"Redefined what a "trainer" is"

I have now been training with James Demuynck since September 2012. I can honestly say, without a doubt, that I would be hard-pressed to train with anyone else for as long as I live. A bit extreme perhaps, but the knowledge and passion for fitness and strength that I have gained in the last year has been invaluable and inspiring. James has truly given me the tools to change my life.

I have developed such an immense appreciation for strength and strength training. No matter what anyone may say, being strong simply makes life easier. My posture, body, stamina, mood, confidence, and overall outlook have improved more than I could have anticipated. James has shown me how to incorporate strength training and fitness into my life in an approachable, dynamic, fun, and rewarding way.

Working with James has also redefined my concept of what a “trainer” is. I had previously thought that a trainer was someone who simply put you through workouts and gave you results. I was so sorely wrong. I realize now that a trainer, a real trainer, is someone who is there to help you gain the confidence, knowledge and experience to become accountable for your own health and fitness.  A real trainer helps you gain the confidence to form your own goals, and teaches you the skills to help you reach them. Training with James has taught me that strength is truly a skill, something you practice so you can progress. Seeing my progression over the past year has been the single most motivating factor to continue my fitness regime to this point, and for the rest of my life.

My favourite thing about working with James, is what we have coined his “Miyagi” technique. James has taught me how to work towards accomplishing a task without doing the task directly. There is nothing more rewarding or mind blowing than attempting a task, doubtful of your ability, and then owning it! This has really demonstrated to me how interconnected exercises and movements are, and why overall strength is so important.

Since I began working with James, I have referred friends, relatives, and co-workers to him. I can truthfully say that everyone I have referred, have loved his unique and dynamic style of training. Most, if not all, of those who I referred who began training with James continue to train with him today. James’ knowledge and expertise is second only to his genuine passion for his practice. He has an insatiable thirst for learning, and is constantly working to expand his knowledge base and improve his teaching.

I have really learned to appreciate the value of fitness, strength, and employing a trainer who is truly knowledgeable and loves what they do. I am leaner, stronger, and happier than I have ever felt. I am incredibly grateful to James for helping me get to where I am today, and for teaching me the skills that will only help me continue to improve.
