James' Approach to Fitness

There is a saying that strength has a greater purpose, and I whole-heartedly agree. From load lifted to character and resilience, I believe that strength, in all its meanings, is essential to life.
— James

James believes everyone has the capacity to cultivate an amazing life; one filled with passion, purpose and, of course, pleasure. He believes that the principles of strength and movement are essential components to creating this type of life.

James utilizes strength and movement principles to create a base of physical health and fitness.  This base of health and fitness is fundamental, and can set the tone for how we live the rest of our lives.  Establishment of basic physical health also serves as a catalyst for improvement in other aspects of overall health. Things like energy, mood, work, productivity, and relationships can all see improvement as a byproduct from focusing on this fundamental physicality.

James adopted this belief because it allowed him to change his own life. By keeping the principles of strength and movement at the core of his approach to exercise and programming, he was able to make multiple positive changes in his physical health. He moved better, felt stronger, healthier, and became almost impervious to injury.

Though his training style has changed over the years, James' fundamental beliefs and approach has remained at the heart of his practice and programming. It has inspired and motivated his clients to create, or improve upon the foundation for their own physical health, and begin their journeys to cultivating their own amazing lives.

Why Strength and Movement?

Movement is life; it’s healing, energizing and fun. Cultivating freedom of movement is one of the most impactful factors on your health.
— James

Remember what it was like as a child? Running, jumping, climbing, crawling, and rolling to your heart’s content without hesitation, and for a seemingly unlimited amount of time. Remember what it was like to move, sweat, and breathe without pain or discomfort?

Exercise was something that came easy, it was play, and it was fun.

As we grow and age our bodies and minds change, sometimes drastically. Many of us begin to view exercise from a perspective of fear, doubt, and worry. We fear injury, we doubt our own abilities, and worry about our physical limitations. By focusing on strength and movement, James helps clients regain that freedom of movement.

James helps his clients build a positive and realistic relationship with exercise. James' approach helps his clients remove their physical limitations and mental restrictions. Fear and doubt, are gradually replaced by curiosity and intrigue. Clients begin to view challenges with excitement, and new skills are met with “I’m going to do that”, versus “I wish I could do that”.

James helps his clients build a new confidence with their bodies and physical capabilities. This confidence spills over into everyday life, serving as a catalyst for change and improvement in other areas of life such as school, work, relationships and self-esteem.

Using strength and movement to guide our relationship with exercise ultimately leaves us feeling healthier, happier and more fulfilled. Allowing us to live a life of passion, purpose and pleasure.
